Young Roc is a Detroit OG and I have been bingeing his music all year. He started his career by producing for names like Royce Da 5’9 and Dej Loaf. Now he is the CEO of Daytyrp Records based in Detroit. In the past few years, Roc has been making waves as not only a producer but an artist himself. Young Roc brings an interesting dynamic to the booth, you hear real raps in his music along with pristine production. Thank God that he has been very active in the year of 2021. For starters, his album this what i saw in my window is one of the most well-crafted and grimy albums I have heard all year. The cover is freaky looking and the music embodies the anonymity and nighttime feel. Young Roc can hit you with the house shaking turn up tracks or he can switch it up and create a melodic record that will have you wanting to cruise through the city. One of the stand out songs on this what i saw in my window called “Gloat” was one of the reasons why I loved the idea of his collab with fellow Detroit rapper Nasaan. They released their project Function on July 23rd. Function is the key to having the most jumping house party or nightclub, nothing but absolute bangers on there. Roc has absolutely no regrets in his music and stays true to what he knows best which is himself. These past two weeks he has dropped off two great singles titled “I NEED IT” and “Showing You the Way”. As I explained earlier, Roc is versatile and these two tracks back up my hypothesis. I highly recommend not only these two singles, but both this what i saw in my window and Function. Stream the tracks below and the rest of his music below.
