TDE star Isaiah Rashad has kept fans eagerly waiting for his follow up to his classic album The Sun’s Tirade. The Sun’s Tirade was a painfully honest album, Isaiah tackled his anxieties and the things that consume him such as drug addiction and relationships. After a long battle, I’m not only happy for Isaiah Rashad the rapper but Isaiah Rashad the person. Personally, I am the type of person to never rush the creative process but when it comes to his music I am very impatient. Isaiah Rashad has the complete bag, when you listen to him you’re guaranteed to hear self-conscious bars, interesting vocal inflections, amazing melodies, and polished production.

The Chattanooga native has carefully crafted together his new album The House Is Burning. After playing it back since Thursday night I can say I would have waited another five years for this album. This album was Rashad leaving all his demons in his house and letting it burn. The album title leaves you with an interesting metaphor, if my house was burning I would be freaking out but Isaiah lets it empower him even more. Isaiah decided to take a more R&B turn for this album, clear examples of this would be on tracks like “Claymore” or “Score” that even feature current R&B stars Smino, SZA and 6LACK. Those tracks deliver with wonderful vocal performances from each artist and wavy instrumentals. Then there are irresistibly groovy tracks such as “Headshots” and “True Story” that show off Rashad’s versatility from all angles. Of course he still delivers with the Southern bangers such as “Lay Wit Ya”, “Chad”, and “From The Garden”. The Uzi feature was the perfect choice for “From The Garden” and Isaiah went back to his skittish/staccato flow that he was first using when he began rapping. The House Is Burning is Isaiah Rashad putting the pieces back together in his personal life and getting back on top of the rap game. This album is my album of the year so far and if you haven’t listened yet I don’t consider you a fan of hip-hop. The homie AJ here at MTME wrote an article for "Headshots" that will be below. Stream The House Is Burning all day everyday. I'll leave the link for the video for my favorite song of the album "Wat U Sed" below also.
