Omni ! - DOPEBOYS [New Album]

If you’re reading this you can say that you’re early to the party. Omni ! is a young trio that is fresh off of the release of their debut album DOPEBOYS. The three are artists named JoVaughn Simmons, Dawvro, and J’amie. Each of them come with their own unique flair and swagger on top of an immense amount of raps. JoVaughn Simmons brings the grittiness, Dawvro can switch up his delivery in a heartbeat, and J’aime brings the infectious melodies. Omni ! handle everything themselves when it comes to creating music. The connection is genuine, energy is upper echelon, and these boys are just getting started! With a fresh palette for 2022, these boys are ready to make some noise and breakthrough. Let’s get to what you clicked on this article for, DOPEBOYS.

This is the debut release from Omni ! and stretches out to be nine tracks. Omni ! displays such consistency throughout the entire project and there was never a time I felt that they were holding back. The very first track feels like a slap in the face to wake up. “WILLIE” is a slightly distorted track with a beefy kick. The intro finds this trio letting the world know that they have arrived with aggressive verses from each. The title track “DOPEBOYS” has got to be one of my favorites if not my favorite. This instrumental is slick and gives such an ominous feeling. Omni ! flexes all over this track and I believe is them at their best. This crew has an endless amount of dynamics that can keep you entertained and engaged while you listen. They just released a visual for the track “BLACK MINIVAN”. Not to go off on a tangent, but these guys have some clean visuals. They’re still relatively new, but have 9K+ views on their Youtube. The music video is filled with many different perspectives and extraordinary use of the camera. I’ll link the visual to “BLACK MINIVAN” below. This track is another example of why Omni ! has potential to be another iconic group in hip-hop. With an echoing 808 and electrifying synth line, the crew pass the baton to each other perfectly on this song. “TONY” has Omni ! at a different frequency with a more mellow and harmonious delivery and strong verses from the group. This is also one of my favorite tracks.

I don’t like to give away all of my favorite peaks throughout an album review because at the end of the day I'm just going to tell you to listen. Omni ! has set themselves up for an enormous 2022, and I highly recommend that you give DOPEBOYS a spin. This trio is young and has all the potential in the world.
