When I’m listening to new artists, I look for someone who breaks the norm. An artist who makes it hard for me to classify them under one umbrella or genre, Kenny Mason is actually THAT guy. The Atlanta artist mixes styles and influences from hip-hop, punk, and rock with lucid storytelling and intense rhymes. Relatively new in this game, he has quickly made his presence known, letting others know that he is here to stay. Kenny already has gigs booked this year at big festivals like Rolling Loud and Lollapalooza, so you know he is doing something right. He shared his new video for “Play Ball” yesterday and the visuals are absolutely stunning. “Play Ball” is off his most recent extension release of Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut in April. The original Angelic Hoodrat and Supercut are both perfect projects front to back, the two projects are so cohesive. You can play the tracks in order or shuffle it when you chilling with your crew. If you haven’t heard “Play Ball”, this is the most ideal introduction to Kenny Mason. This track is one of my favorites that he has ever released so far. The visual shows Kenny and his homies riding through a neighborhood on bikes and enjoying life. The video left me feeling homesick because of the connection Kenny had with his dog pack, it made me feel like I was apart of the circle. You can see how much Kenny’s music means to him and his homies. If you don’t know Kenny Mason you’re seriously living under a rock, get in-tune with the only true rockstar in hip-hop. Check out the visual for “Play Ball” below and stream Angelic Hoodrat: Supercut available anywhere you listen to music.
