Earl Sweatshirt's third studio album, Some Rap Songs, was released a few years ago to tremendous acclaim and included guest performances from Standing on the Corner and Navy Blue. On the notable tune "Playing Possum," Earl's parents, civil rights scholar Cheryl Harris and late South African poet/political activist Keorapetse Kgositsile, were also featured. Since then, the Odd Future veteran has continued to provide songs to his adoring fans, including the 2019 EP Feet of Clay. Last year, a deluxe edition of the album was released, with nine genre-bending tracks and collaborations from Mavi, Mach-Hommy, Maxo, and others. The Alchemist confirmed in a recent interview with Anthony Fantano that Earl Sweatshirt has finished a new album, which is rumored to be titled Sick ."Earl's album is fantastic. He's finished an album, and it's great. That makes me really happy. And I'm working on something there. It's completely crazy. Everyone should be glad now that he's in his luggage." Earl gives us all a taste of what to expect with “2010,” which Earl teased by sharing coordinates on social media (which led to a billboard) and providing a QR code leading to a snippet of the Black Noi$e-produced cut. As expected, “2010” is full of the multi-layered, replay-worthy rhymes that’s made him into one of the illest emcees of his generation and hip hop overall.
