The uprising of Cordae is such a genuine one and one of my favorites in recent memories. He separated himself from YBN (which feels like an eternity ago but in reality it wasn’t) and proved that he wasn’t the rapper to put inside a box. He hopped on a lot of people’s radar after he dropped a remix to Eminem’s famous “My Name Is”. Cordae comes with a lyrical prowess, swagger, and confidence that is rarely matched by accompanying rappers his age. The Maryland based rapper has been very active this year while teasing his next album titled From a Bird’s Eye View. “Super” was originally teased in an Instagram snippet and immediately he had me hooked. I love how energetic this song is and I love how Cordae’s bars evolve throughout the track. He dropped a four pack of songs earlier this year to hold us over called Just Until…, when I seen that “Super” wasn't on the mixtape I was thrown off guard. I think he made the right decision though as “Super” is presumably the first official single off of his next full length project. The music video is just as terrific as the track and it shows the superhero that Cordae is. The visual begins with Cordae looming over the city almost like Batman. It cuts to CEO Cordae who is passing out the new “Cordae Cola”. You see a giant skyscraper for his new record label Hi-Level. There are plenty of beautiful and entertaining shots and visuals in this video, my favorite has got to be when Cordae receives the championship belt as he is rapping about being the one on the throne and maintaining his position. From a Bird’s Eye View looks like it is going to be another gift from Cordae. Check out the music video for “Super” below.
