2021 was more than an outstanding year for Chase Alex, he shared a handful of stellar loosies like “Heaven”, “Hard 2 Blend”, and “PARANOID”. I still find myself going back to those tracks as they are holding me over until a full-length release. Alex was one of the first artists to jump on stage and sell-out shows when venues opened up last year, he went on a tour and rocked out in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and New York. His newest offering is a Valentine’s Day (even though I’m extra late) themed song and video for “My Darling”.
“My Darling” begins with a powerful synth line that sets the foundation for the track. Alex begins by harmonizing about his love for his significant other. Chase Alex never wastes a breath on the beat, this high-energy track is filled with charming phrases and a contagious hook I love to hear artists find a sound that fits them and figure out ways to expand on that.
The music video was directed by Maya Cruz and the visual supplies a rush of nostalgia. The entire video was shot on film which gives the visual a retro-like aesthetic. As the film rolls, Chase Alex and his friends dapper up for an unforgettable celebration. My favorite shots have to be of Alex when he is dancing in the mirror getting ready for his night. Mason Burch also does a terrific job with the editing. Chase Alex is on the rise and has set himself up for an even more successful 2022.
