Chance the Rapper - "A Bar About a Bar" [Official Music Video]

ajmusicreport

As the film depicts dramatic frames of the far-fetched scenario, Chance turns to Vic and begins weaving a complex story replete with bars about bars and lines about lines. Nikko Washington, a Chicago-based painter, works on a new art project in Chance's House of Kicks studio in Chicago. The artwork reflects the thoughts that are being addressed, and it is also intertwined into the situations that are being played out in the film. The words are projected across the screen as the story progresses, in the same characteristic way as Chance's "Child of God" video. Chance the Rapper's second piece and art experience, "A Bar About a Bar," continues his exploration of the link between music, film, and modern art, redefining the notion of "album art." The unconventional, Afro-futuristic, and surrealist representation of racial inequity, racial integration, and classism in the suburbs of white America in "Abar, the First Black Superman" influenced Nikko's work.
